Lvllvl allows you to create art and pictures using character sets from various computer systems and retro gaming consoles, such as Amiga, Commodore and Apple all from the comfort of your browser! Custom character sets and vector tiles are also available to use as well as the ability to upload your own tile sets. Art created using character sets is most commonly called Textmode art!

After selecting which character set you will be using, you can choose colour palettes from different systems to use, or make your own! Working with limited colours is a fun challenge. In the editor, you can select two colours for your tiles, a “background” colour and a “text” colour. This is where things get fun! You can rotate and flip around the tiles, and place them on a grid. This is kinda like pixelart, but a bit more fancy I guess lol. There are a bunch more features and tools you can use but I wont go super in depth here.
